Lip Syncing Complete

I have now edited the lip syncing practice of Ellie and put the song over the top so it looks like Ellie is singing the song. I found it quite easy to match the song to the lip syncing however when it comes to the actual editing of the music video, it might be more difficult as I would need to cut and edit from different shots. I thought Ellie was quite good at the lip syncing so choosing her would be good in my music video.

Lip Syncing Practice of Ellie

I have now filmed Ellie lip syncing to my chosen song 'The Show' so it would give her an idea of how to lip sync but also to be more familiar with the song as she would be lip syncing the majority of the song in my music video. Now I would need to edit it and put the song over to see how easy or difficult it is to match the lip syncning to the song so when it comes to the actual editing of my music video, I would know how to do it.

How my Main Character would look like in the Music Video

I have now seen my main character's costume for my music video and I am happy with the look. For the mise-en-scene of my video, the costume for my main character is to wear a bright coloured dress and coloured dolly shoes. However, Ellie (my main character) does not own a coloured dress or coloured dolly shoes but has found a bright yellow top where she would be wearing leggings and black dolly shoes. This look would still work in my music video as the look is quite quirky which reflects the artist, Lenka's image and would be portrayed in my music video. The warm colours of the orange of her costume also fits with the autumn surroundings which would make my music video meaningful and also creative as it would make sense and make the video more reflective. The image of my main character looking quite quirky in my music video would interest my audience as it is also fashionable which would appeal to my target audience.

This is how my main character would look like in my music video:

Informing my Cast about their appearance in my Music Video

After I having my official cast, I then informed them about their costumes that they would need to wear in my music video and also throughout the production of my filming. This is to make sure that my final music video would make sense and would not look strange and have my cast wearing different clothes in different shots. I also informed them about their make-up and that it needs to be subtle and simple like the basic make-up of eye-liner, mascara and lip gloss. This would reflect the natural feel of the video that I am portraying to the audience. I also informed  my cast that their hair would need to be down and straight, enhancing the simplicity and naturalness of the image portrayed in my music video. All this information would help portray the right image in my music video and also help make it more interesting and enjoyable to watch. Also my final music video would make sense if these aspects are kept the same throughout the filming.

Official Cast for my Music Video

I have now got my official cast and can now consider of moving on and considering dates for my filming. I am really happy with my cast and I am really excited to start filming. I feel as though the cast would help my music video be more interesting and enjoyable to watch as they are all fun and excited and could bring out thier personalities into the music video.

Here is my official cast of my music video:

Ellie Markie as my main character:

Ellie would in my music video throughout and would be lip syncing majority of the lyrics of the song. She would also be in different locations. In the Drama Hall, it seems as though she is starting her performance with a spotlight on her while she is sitting in the room. Then in the park, sitting with the other characters and walking down the path. Also she would be on the swings and in the field of the park. She would also be walking down and skipping along on the streets with the other two characters. Ellie would then end the music video by going back to the Drama Hall as though she is ending her performance.

Kayla Harris as one of my two characters:

Kayla would be near the start and near the end of the music video. She would be sitting with Ellie on the bench and also skipping along with Ellie on the street. Near the end of the music video, she would be walking along on the path in the park with Ellie and also lip syncing the last few lines of the lyrics of the song.

Chloe Robinson as one of my other two characters:

She would also be doing the same things as Kayla as they are the characters of strangers in my music video.

Re-casting

I have found an ideal person who can play the missing part in my music video and the person is Chloe Robinson. With her being my friend, it makes it easier to film as we all get along with each other and would be able to get more filming done. I also chose Chloe to be in my music video as she is patient which would benefit in my production as during filming, I would need to film again and again and she would be determined and happy to do the filming. I chose Chloe as she is young and girly which would make my music video more interesting and also would appeal to my target audience of females. She is also fun and care free, making my video more creative and enjoyable to watch and would interest many audiences. Her look is also natural and refreshing which would enhance the simplicity of the genre of folk-pop and also emphasize the natural feel of my video so it is not too exaggerated or over the top. Also that she is fashionable would help bring that contemporary feel to my music video which would also appeal to more audiences especially females.

I have already asked Chloe if she would want to be in my music video and if she would be comfortable with it and she said yes. I am happy that she could be in my music video and that my cast is complete.

Problems with my Casting

I am happy that my main character, Ellie Markie and also one of my other two characters, Kayla Harris can be part of the production and is comfortable and happy to be featuring in my music video. They are both excited and thrilled to play a part in my music video which benefites me as it would be easier to film them as they would be determined and happy to get the filming done. However when I contacted my other actress, Laura Glansfield, she said that she was not sure if she wanted to be in a music video and that she did not feel comfortable of the idea of being filmed and being featured in a video. This means that I would need to re-cast and think of the ideal person who can play that part  in my video. She would also need to feel comfortable with the production and also the idea of being in my music video.

Taking possible location photos

Today in the lessons, I went out to take some pictures of possible locations that I can set and film parts of my music video. I have taken many different photos of open fields, paths, and a park where my characters can be in my video. I have also taken pictures of a bench and swings where my main character would be on in my video. With the locations, I have taken the photos from different perspectives so I would be able to see the different possibilities where my character can be filmed from and how the shots should be framed in my video.

Lip Syncing Test

Within my music video a majority part is made up of lip syncing, meaning that we need to practise lip syncing to see how it is like and how it would look when edited with the song. I am going to get Ellie Markie to the practise lip syncing to the song of the video, Lenka 'The Show' as she is going to be in my video so she would understand and get use to the technique. Also I would understand the technique and would also know how to match and edit it to the song when it comes to the actual music video. By doing the lip syncing, it would help make my music video look more professional and interesting to watch.

Ideas of Mise-en-Scene for my Music Video: Make-up and Props

After considering the costumes of my cast, I have now thought of different aspects of Mise-en-Scene for my music video to help make it more interesting and engaging to watch but also to try and portray a certain image for my video.

Make-Up
With all my characters, I would want to have them wearing subtle make-up so it is not too much or overly done to keep that natural and calm feel to my music video. They would wear the normal make-up of mascara, eye-liner, lip gloss and maybe foundation. Even though their make-up are pretty much the same, the thing that would make my main female character stand out is are clothing and her personality that she brings to the music video.

Props
I would not need that much props in my music video but only a spotlight to match the visuals to the lyrics of when my main character lip syncs the line 'The sun is hot in the sky just like a giant spotlight.' I would also need to use the spotlight for the beginning of the song when the spotlight is focussed on my main character sitting down and also at the end of the song to show the end of her performance and the fading out as though the spotlight is switched off.

Ideas of Mise-en-Scene for my Music Video: Costume for my Two Other Characters

After I have thought of the costume for my main character, I have now moved on and considered the costume for my other two characters in my music video.

The Two Other Characters (Kayla & Laura): With the other two characters in my music video, I have decided to dress them in casual and comfy clothes as though the characters are going out. By dressing them in that way, it would make my main female character stand out which I would want so the audience would focus on the main character more. They would be dressed in jeans, tops, cardigans or leggings that are fashionable and would appeal to my target audience. I would want them to dress in dark colours or colours that are not too bright as I would want my main character to stand out more than them as she is the main focus in my music video. I also want them to wear dolly shoes as I would want to make my video girly to attract my audience.

These are the clothing and shoes that I am thinking of for Kayla & Laura to wear:

I will ask both of my actresses if they own anything similar to these clothing and if they could wear it throughout the filming process. If she does not have any of the similar clothing then I would need to buy the clothes as I like my idea of the mise-en-scene for these characters and do not want to change it.

I would also need to inform both of my actresses than their hair should be straight and down and also their make-up would need to be subtle like my main actress to create that natural and simplistic image that I am trying to portray in my music video. Also I would need to tell them that this image would need to be the same in every filming that I do to make sure that my final music video would make sense to my audience.

Ideas of Mise-en-Scene for my Music Video: Costume for my Main Character

After I have considered casting and location, I can now move on and consider the mise-en-scene of my music video. These are the elements that make up my music video and helps portray the right images of the song to the audience.

Costumes

Main Female Character (Ellie): I have decided to dress my main female character in a dress to portray the idea of a little girl in my music video as you would associate the girl dressed in a dress. I would also have her dressed in a colourful dress to emphasize the mood of happiness and atmosphere of the song. I have also decided to have her wearing some colourful dolly shoes to also emphasize the image of the little girl. As I want her look to be natural and simple as it is portraying the image of a girl, I would also have her hair down and wearing no jewellery as it would be too much.

These are the clothing and shoes that I am thinking of for Ellie to wear as my main character:

I will ask my main atress if she own anything similiar to these clothing and if she could wear it throughout the filming process. If she does not have any of the similair clothing then I would buy the dress and the shoes as I like my idea of the mise-en-scene for my character and do nto wnat to change it.

I would also need to inform my actress than her hair should be staright and down and also her make-up would need to be subtle to create that natural and simplistic image that I am trying to portray in my music video. Also I would need to tell her that this image of her would need to be the same in every filming that I do to make sure that my final music video would make sense to my audience.

Official Locations for my Music Video

I have decided to use the Drama Hall for the start and the end of the music video as it is the ideal place to film these parts as I would need the darkness of the room and also the spotlight. For the majority of the music video, I have chosen to base it in the park area as it would be easier to access for all my cast and also could get more filming done as I would not need to move around to a different location which would save time.

As the start and the end of my music video is filmed in school, in the Drama Hall, I would need to film after school so it would be easier for me to film with my main character, Ellie as there would be lessons in the Drama Hall meaning there would be a busy and tight schedule for the Drama Hall. Also filming after school would give me more time to film as there would be no rush and also make it easier to film extra footage.

For the majority of my music video, it would be filmed in Pleasure Park with all my characters so I am thinking of filming my footage in the weekend as all my characters should be free and also could get more extra filming done. I have decided to film in the weekend as all my filming done in the park is in daylight and filming in the weekend gives me an earlier start and more time to film. Whereas filming after school would not give me enough time as it is beginning to turn darker early and would not give me enough lighting to film.

All these consideration would need to be informed to my actresses and the success of it happening depends on my actresses if they are busy and cannot turn to one of my filming.

Possible Locations for my Music Video: Outdoor location

As majority of the music video is set outdoors, I have different possible outdoor locations, giving me more choices of where I can set and film my video. As most parts of my music video shows my main character walking down different streets and paths, I have taken many photos of possible locations that I can consider in my video where there is a street or path my character can walk down. The locations of the different streets and paths that I chose are near the park so it is easier to access and also near North Park where there is a big field.

Having my main character would walk on different streets would make my shots more framed and interesting. This would make my audience more engaged in the music video, making them feel more involved. I am also having all my characters skipping along different streets and paths so having all these possible locations gives me a wide variety of choices, portraying that care-free and fun atmosphere to my audience. These streets and paths are beside and near the park, so I would not need to move entirely to a different location which would make it easier as it would save time in which I could do more filming.

Another possible location that I could consider is filming in a big plain field, where in my music video it could reflect my character of being lost and confused. Possible locations are in Pleasure Park or North Park as both parks have a field and also different streets and paths which I could film for the set of my video. Also having it set in a plain field could show that my main character is isolated which refelcts the song of being alone. However it could also show a care free and fun personality of the artist of running freely and wildly.

Possible Locations for my Music Video: Park location

I have now sorted out the indoor location to be set and filmed in the Drama Hall.for the start and the end of the music video. I am now considering the outdoor locations where the rest of the music video would be set. For most parts of the music video, I am considering of having it set in the park as it reflects the idea of being a little girl. The park locations that I took of the grass and also the swings and benches are all possible locations that I can consider and include in my music video.

For the rest of the music video, the setting and locations are outdoors mainly around settings in the park and surrounding trees and greenery. I decided to set majority of my music video in a park as it reflects some oaf the lyrics of being a little girl and also being in a park it portrays that care free and fun personality of the artist, Lenka. I really like the setting of the park as it is quiet and the surroundings are natural and just adds to the video, making it interesting and creative. However, the disadvantages are that it might be quite busy and there might be a lot of people in the park, making it harder to film in the park as people might get into the shots of my music video. However, Pleasure Park is an easy location for my casts to get there so I could get my filming of my video done.

While in the park, I would also get my main character to be on the swings for the chorus to portray the little girl of the song as she lip syncs "I'm just a little girl lost in the moment'. I am also having her sitting on the bench at the start of the song and also some parts of the chorus so it would emphasize the image of a little girl and also feeling lost and confused.

Possible Locations for my Music Video: Indoor location

After I have considered my casting and decided my cast members, I can now start to look at different locations where I can set and film different parts of music video.

After looking back at my storyboards, majority of my music video is outdoors but in various locations like in fields, different streets and in the park. This means I have many possible locations where I can film my music video set outside.

For the first shot of my music video, the setting is indoors so I would need a dark room where there is a spotlight so it shines on my main character in my video when she lip syncs. The dark room creates the atmosphere and the light helps focus on the character. I have found this location in school as the Drama Hall would be perfect for this shot as there is also a spotlight and I could also blackout the room. This would look more professional than just a school project as the audience would not see the room as part as a school due to the blackout.
I have chosen to film in the Drama Hall as it looks like a stage to reflect the meaning of the song of having stage fright and vulnerabiltity. Also the advantage of filming in the Drama Hall is having the spotlight as the different lighting and darkness in the room helps create an atmosphere and mood.

Contacting my Cast about their part in my Music Video

I have now contacted all my cast and asking them if they wanted to be part of my music video and the production of it. I am hoping that they would all be happy and excited to be in my music video so it would make it easier for me to film them as they would be enjoying themselves and making my video more fun and relaxing. However, if they say no, I would need to re-cast and think of other people who would be ideal to play the characters in my music video and be comfortable to feature in the video.

Casting for my Music Video

As I would need three female characters in my music video, I have decided to ask my friends to play in the video as I am aware of their personalities and would fit in the music video to create an atmosphere reflecting the mood of the song. The people that I have chose would need to be interested and excited to be in my music video as their feelings and personalities would show in my video. This means they would need to be more engaged in acting in my music video as the audience would need to be interested and feel more involved in the video.

I have decided to ask my friends to take part in my music video as I know their personalities, making it easier to know which parts for them to play in my video. We also get along with each other and work together well which benefits me in the making of my video as it makes it easier for me to do the filming and getting the footage of my music video done .

The person that I am casting to play the main role is Ellie Markie:

I have decided to have Ellie in my music video as her personality is quite bubbly and care free which means that she can portray the artist's character in the music video and make it a more creative and fun video. I also feel that her look is quite natural and simple which benefits my music video as I am trying portray that simplistic nature of the genre folk. Her look is really refreshing and would appeal to my target audience as they would be focussed on her image, making them more interested and engaged while watching the music video. Even though she is not really tall, her petiteness would enhance more of the image and the idea of a little girl in my music video. Her look is young and also she is really fashionable so it would appeal and interest more audience, making my music video more enjoyable to watch.

I also want to cast Kayla Harris & Laura Glansfield:

I want to cast Kayla and Laura to play the roles of the strangers to my main character in my music video as I feel as though they have similar personalitites of being quite bubbly and fun which is needed in my music video to interest my target audience. They would also be good to play the role as they are really girly and also quite care free to make my video more fun and creative. Their looks would also fit in my music video as they are quite natural looking and also refreshing which would give my video that contemporary feel. Like Ellie, they are not tall but all have similar heights so it would not make my music video look strange which maybe off putting to my audience while watching my video. Thier young look and fashionable taste can interest and appeal to audience as they would find my video more modernised and creative, making my music video more enjoyable to watch.

I would need to ask if they are willing to play the parts in my music video and hopefully they would be really excited and thrilled to be part of the production and also being featured in my music video.

Considering Casting and Locations for my Music Video

After I have created my storyboards and my animatic storyboard, I had a sense of what my music video would look like. I am now considering my cast and different locations as this is quite important as they would portray the right mood and atmosphere of the song to the audience, creating a more interesting and effective music video.

I would need to cast three people who are all girls and aged around 17 as this would interest my target audience of females. One of my cast would play the main role of my music video, lip syncing majority of the song and portraying the character of the artist to the audience. The other two casts would act as strangers to my main character in my music video. I would also need an audience for the end of the song due to the changes that I have made.

For my locations, majority of my music video would be set in a park or locations near natural scenes of trees plants as this would set the mood and atsmosphere of my video. Also some of my locations would be in a plain field to enhance the idea of being lost. I am also considering different streets that my character can walk down in some of the shots in the video. I would also need a dark room with a spotlight for the first shot in my music video.

From this, I can now consider people to play the parts and different specific locations for my music video.

Making changes to my Music Video ideas

After looking thoroughly through the song and the lyrics, instead of having my characters walking off at the end of the verse, I am going to have my main character back in the Drama Hall like at the beginning of the song as though it is the end of her performance. I am also going to zoom out and reveal that the whole music video was a performance as though she is performing to the audience watching the music video. At the end of the music video, I am going to have her lip sync the last line of the song then fading out as though the  spotlight is switched off, signifying the end of her performance.

Problems with my Animatic

I am still having troubles with uploading my animatic onto my blog so unfortunately I am unable to upload it but creating it, it benefited me as I could see and sense how my final music video could come together and may look like. It also showed me that I could have some more camera angles and movements added to it to make it even more effective.

Creating my Animatic Storyboard

I have created an animatic storyboard to show me how my music video might look like as the final piece. I think that the storyboard works well with the song and even more ideas could be added to

I have made some changes to the ideas that I originally wrote in my Treatment to my music video like instead of having the girl stuck between two people in a car and the constant changing of the locations, I had her stuck between two people on a park bench. Even though I am changing the idea slightly, the finished music video will still interest my target audience as it would be simple but also colourful and have many effects which my target audience would like which I learned from my Audience Feedback.

I have some difficulty in uploading the animatic storyboard but it would be uploaded soon.

Using my storyboards to create an Animatic

Now that I have created my storyboards, I am now going to use them to create an animatic storyboard so I can sense how my music video would look like. This would help me to see how each shot of the storyboard would fit into the song and if it works well with the song. It also would help me identify any changes or ideas that needs to be included in my music video to make it more effective.
