- Director of video? Ethan Lader
- What genre of music does this song fall into? R&B, Pop
- Is there a relationship between the lyrics and visuals in the song? The visuals do illustrate the lyrics and there are many examples used in the video. An example of this is when Bruno Mars is using the tape and creates the image of eyes illustrating the lyrics 'Oh her eyes, her eyes
Make the stars look like they're not shining'. - Is there a relationship between the music and the visuals? There is a relationship between the music and the visuals as the editing of the visuals cuts to the beat of the song. A good example of this is when near the start of the video, Bruno Mars creates a picture of a drum out of tape and uses his fingers to drum to the beat at the start of the song. As some parts of the song is played using a piano, he also creates an image of a piano using the tape and plays it which shows a link between the music and the visuals.
- What is the importance of the artist in the visuals? The importance of the artist in the visuals is to create an image of Bruno Mars being sweet and lovely as he talks about nice things about the girl which is illustrated by the lyrics and the visuals. This would help sell the artist to the audience. This video is Bruno Mars' first video and does not show motifs that relate to his later music videos. The video also shows Bruno Mars as not just being a singer but also a piano player as in the video you can see him playing the piano, showing more of his talents.
- Is there any voyeurism in the video? There are no voyeurism in the video as the artist, Bruno Mars is not portrayed in a sexual way. Also there are no other aspects of voyeurism such as 'screens within screens' or cameras in the video.
- Does the video have any intertextuality? From just watching the music video, I could not see any reference from other media texts. However, the music video was influenced by the artwork of Erika Iris Simmons, using her idea of tape art to illustrate the lyrics in the video.
- What is the mixture in the video between performance and narrative? The majority of the video is based on the performance of Bruno Mars as in the video he lip syncs and also plays the piano. However, the video deos not really have a narrative as the lyrics are mostly illustrated by different pictures made out of the tape rather than a story.
